Search For 1,000's of Games Directly From Your Browser

By Cedric Maloux
Tags: , , | Categories: Fun | Product

We have now released a neat new feature on the Geewa site which allows to search for more than 5,500 casual games directly in your browser's search bar. Just go to Geewa.com and click on the arrow down in your browser's search bar. It will offer you to install the Geewa Casual Games Search Engine.

That's it. So now whenever you feel like taking a little break from your browsing addiction, your Gmail or your RSS reader, just select Geewa in the search box and start typing what's on your mind. Our search engine will search through games names and descriptions and bring back titles, descriptions as well as the current number of people playing the games now.

This feature is only available for browsers compatible with OpenSearch so if it doesn't work for you, maybe it's a good time to switch or upgrade your browser. You would not want to miss instant access to thousands of games and players would you?

Did You Just Say Social Multiplayer Games?

By Cedric Maloux
Tags: , , | Categories: Fun

OK. That’s it. I’m going to bite next time I hear the expression Social something. First we had Social Networks services which kind of make sense to differentiate from computers networks.  Then it was Social Media which we all enjoy as part of the Social Web movement. Since joining Geewa and the casual gaming industry last month, I’ve been bombarded with the expression “Social Games” (in opposition to Antisocial Games I suppose) but today I came across the astonishing “Social Multiplayer Game” and I’m not sure if I want to laugh, cry or bite!

By definition, ‘social’ is an adjective meaning it’s related to a group (of people). Likewise, by definition, Multiplayer means, hmmm, let me get this one right, multiple players (people) so a Social Multiplayer Game is a game of multiple people as part of a group of people. I’m glad someone thought about adding Social to Multiplayer Games otherwise we would all have been confused obviously. What was wrong with Cooperative Multiplayer Games?

So since we’re at it and it's Friday, let’s look at what else we got here. Obviously Antisocial Multiplayer Game is a good category for all the deathmatches mode in 1st person shooter games. A Social Singleplayer Game would be a group of people playing Tetris next to each other and having a good time and finally we have the long awaited Antisocial Singleplayer Game which would be a group of people playing Tetris and insulting each other at the same time.

Anything else? Did I miss one combination? Oh no! Wait! There’s more! What about Multiplayer Social Games? Is that the same thing as Social Multiplayer Games? Is it the games or the players which are social? I guess it could apply to both.

Oh well, I don't know. The only thing I know for sure is that at Geewa, we’re better than that because we have Social Multiplayer Social Games. Beat that!

By Cedric Maloux
Tags: , , | Categories: Fun

Venture Beat has a great interview of Gareth Davis, Facebook’s program manager for games on the Facebook Platform. At Geewa, we develop real-time multiplayer casual games and we have been very successful so far thanks to our original games but up to know you could only play with strangers. Facebook has changed this forever thanks to their platform and the ability for game developers to tap into the social graph of each users.

Soon we'll launch our multiplayer games on Facebook. This will allow you to compete in real-time with your friends. Stay tuned for more announcements on this.
